As a Lady With Purpose is important you take very good care of your health especially fertility related. The frustration of trying to get pregnant after marriage is not a child's play I must tell you. We are here to discover ourselves in all area of life and health is not an exception. We choose this topic because so many ladies are not aware of this syndrome and when they eventually find out they might have gone through a lot of stress, pressure and abuse. This information is even more vital for the single ladies because the earlier you know the better. I will be talking about PCOS (Polycystic Ovary syndrome ). So many women suffer infertility issues when married and wants children then they realize something is wrong. I am not a medical personnel but will write base on experience. Polycystic Ovary syndrome is a clinical diagnosis characterized by the presence of two or more of the following features; Irregular or absent menstrual cycles Androgen excess (increased hair growth on the face, chest, ,around the nipples or in the lower part of the abdomen, acne, hair loss. Polycystic appearing ovaries. While these may not be harmful, they may trigger imbalance in the release of hormones including testosterone, pituitary gonadotropins, follide-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).If you have PCOS you are not alone. PCOS is one of the most common hormonal endocrine disorder in women. According to specialists 5-10% of women in their peak fertility years are affected by PCOS. 70% of infertility issues tied to ovulation are the result of PCOS. PCOS can cause insulin resistance(which is too much insulin) which result to weight gain, excess of weight in the upper body, inability to loss weight and skin tags. PCOS can rise testosterone levels (male hormones ) symptoms can also includes male pattern baldness, excessive hair growth on the body and face (hirsutism), oily skin and acne. If you suspect that you may have PCOS, it’s important to get treatments even if you don't have immediate plans to get pregnant. Without treatment PCOS can lead to many other serious health complications, such as diabetes and heart related issues that can result in heart attack. Though the exact cause of PCOS is not known. Research points to genes as a major factor. If a mother has PCOS, there is a 50% chance her daughter will have it as well. The most accurate tests to determine if you have PCOS is a transvaginal ultrasound. If PCOS is left untreated, it can prohibit ovulation so that pregnancy becomes more and more difficult and if pregnancy does occur, it can result in miscarriage. However, with the right treatment, many women with PCOS are able to conceive and have children. Seeing a good fertility speciality /Gynaecologists is the first step. Exercising regularly and healthy weight loss is your part to play in order to achieve result. There are number of effective treatments available for women who have PCOS and want to have a child.
