I even laugh sometimes when people say, “Ah! I never knew this person was like this.” Truth is you didn’t know because they didn’t have power yet. If you really want to know the true character of a person, give them power. When someone has no authority, they can appear humble. When someone has no influence, they can appear calm. When someone has no money, they can appear modest. But give them control. Give them recognition. Give them access. Then watch. Power doesn’t create character it reveals it. It amplifies what was already hidden in the heart. So instead of being shocked when people change, understand this: Most times, they didn’t change. They were just exposed. 🔥
